The Lawrence Arts Center has become known as a place willing to stage challenging artworks, whether it's visual art, music or theatre. Their upcoming production of Martin Sherman's landmark play "Bent" is no exception. The play is set in 1934, taking place during and after the Night of the Long Knives, a series of executions intended to solidify Hitler's hold on power in Germany. KPR's Laura Lorson spoke with Margaret Weisbrod Morris of the LAC and Christie Dobson, the play's director, about why they're staging it now, and what they hope audiences will take away from the production.
