Lawrence Arts Center Plans Series on 1960s

This year, the Lawrence Summer Youth Theater is staging a production of the musical "Hairspray." In conjunction with that performance, the Lawrence Arts Center is planning a series of events to help contextualize and explain the tone and tenor of the times depicted in the show. KPR's Laura Lorson talked with Margaret Morris, the director of programs and partnerships at the Lawrence Arts Center, about what artists and teachers are hoping to accomplish with the "Behind the Story" series, which gets underway with a panel discussion tonight (TUE).

Margaret Morris is the director of programs and partnerships at the Lawrence Arts Center. She spoke with KPR's Laura Lorson. For a schedule of events and more information, visit the Lawrence Arts Center website. A reminder: the deadline for submitting entries in the spoken word competition is Thursday, July 4. Again, application information is online at  lawrenceartscenter.org
