If school started today, hundreds of children in Douglas County would begin classes without any school supplies. But an agency in Lawrence is trying to fix that. Ballard Community Services is in the middle of a fundraising campaign, collecting private donations to make sure that school kids in Douglas County have the necessary paper, pencils, crayons -- and everything else they need to start the year right.
