When KU Basketball Season Ends, So Will Broadcasting Career of Bob Davis

KU's play-by-play announcer Bob Davis (left) is retiring at the end of the basketball season. He's been calling Jayhawk basketball and football games on the radio for the past three decades. Sitting next to him is Bob Newton, engineer for the Jayhawk IMG Radio Network. (Photo by Greg Echlin)

But if the Jayhawks are upset along the way in their bid for a fourth NCAA title, it will mean two things: KU’s season comes to an end…and so does the 32-year broadcasting career of play-by-play radio announcer Bob Davis. Kansas Public Radio’s Greg Echlin has this look back at the legendary voice of the Kansas Jayhawks.
