Kansas Republican Senator Jerry Moran met with a group of World War II veterans in Washington who were visiting the national memorial built in their honor. That monument was officially closed yesterday (WED) because of the government shutdown, but the veterans were still able to visit the memorial. Later on, Moran spoke on the Senate floor and urged members of Congress to think about those veterans during the current political dust-up.
Some Republicans want to delay parts of the president's health care law in exchange for funding the government. Senator Moran called on President Obama to compromise, but the president maintains Republicans shouldn’t shutdown government services because they don’t like the law.
