KS Senate Committee Delays K-12 Budget Talks

(Photo by Stephen Koranda)The budget committee in the Kansas Senate has delayed a scheduled discussion of K-12 education funding. The Senate Ways and Means Committee had been scheduled to review school funding today (WED) and begin formulating a possible response to the last week's ruling by the state Supreme Court. Senator Ty Masterson, an Andover Republican, says committee members need more time to consider what to do.

The court ruled that Kansas has created unconstitutional inequality among school districts by reducing certain state funds that help equalize spending.
