KS Legislative Committee Okays $ for KU Med Center

Concept Rendering: New Medical Education Building for KU Medical Center. (Image via KU Med Center's Facilities Master Plan, Feb. 2012) A Kansas legislative committee has approved adding money to next year's budget to help the University of Kansas Medical Center finance construction of a new classroom building. The committee approved adding $1.4 million to the budget as a down payment on the building. KU Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little says the new classroom building will allow the medical center to increase the size of incoming classes.

The chancellor says more classroom space is also needed to help the medical center meet new accreditation standards.
