The committee approved adding $1.4 million to the budget as a down payment on the building. KU Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little says the new classroom building will allow the medical center to increase the size of incoming classes.
The chancellor says more classroom space is also needed to help the medical center meet new accreditation standards.
