KS Lawmaker Ed Bideau Dies

State Representative Ed BideauRepublican state Representative Ed Bideau (BIH-dough) has died at his home in Chanute, just a day after a special legislative session adjourned. The 62-year-old had previously been a prosecutor for Neosho County and served as a municipal judge. During the last legislative session, he criticized the budget passed by the Legislature, drawing attention to cuts at the Department of Corrections.

Bideau previously served in the Legislature in the 1980s but left to start a law practice. He was elected again last year to serve in the Kansas House. Speaker Ray Merrick describes him as a “kind, humble, intelligent man.”
