KS Insurance Regulators to Review Corporate Acquisition

The state of Kansas will have a role in a proposed corporate acquisition. A subsidiary of Amerigroup Corporation was awarded one of three contracts to manage Medicaid services in Kansas. The nation's second-largest health insurance company, WellPoint, now wants to purchase Amerigroup. Bob Hanson, with the Kansas Insurance Department, says Kansas regulators will need to review the deal.

Hanson says 15 states, including Kansas, will have to sign off on WellPoint's purchase of Amerigroup. The Kansas review should take about two months.
