Drivers whose licenses have been suspended for a violation often don't have much choice but to break the law when they have places that they need to drive. The Kansas House passed a bill yesterday (THUR) that would allow drivers with a suspended license to acquire a restricted one. Representative Joe Edwards, a Republican from Haysville, says drivers getting the restricted license would be able to travel to and from their place of employment. They'd also be able to look for work, get to medical appointments, the emergency room, attend drug or alcohol counseling, and go to and from school. But, Edwards said, the driver has to do something before any of that happens...
Edwards said the bill allows for drivers to carry insurance, and drive legally to only those necessary places. The measure passed on a voice vote.
