KS House Passes Automatic Union Contribution Bill

(Photo by Stephen Koranda)The Kansas House has passed a bill that restricts one type of political fundraising used by public employee unions. The bill would ban public sector unions from making automatic withdrawals from employee paychecks for political purposes. KPR’s Stephen Koranda has more on the bill, which passed the House on a 68-56 vote.

A similar bill died in the Senate in 2011. But that chamber now has new, conservative leadership, so this bill has a better chance of passing.

Stephen Koranda is KPR's Statehouse reporter.
