KS Gov Orders Shawnee Co. State Offices Closed Again

Governor Sam Brownback is closing executive branch state offices in Shawnee County again today (WED) because of the winter storm. During a briefing yesterday (TUE), Brownback said the main threat today will be blowing snow and very cold wind chill readings.

Brownback says the high winds are making it a challenge for workers to keep the roads clear.

(Here is a previous version of the story referencing Brownback closing state offices on Tuesday.)

Governor Sam Brownback says he’s closing executive branch state offices Tuesday in Shawnee County because of the impending storm. Department heads will decide if offices in other areas of the state will close.

Brownback says he expects this to be a multi-day weather event, but he has not yet decided if any offices will be closed on Wednesday.
