KS Gov Appoints New Board of Regents Members

Zoe Forrester Newton speaking at the Statehouse. (Photo by Stephen Koranda)Governor Sam Brownback has named three new appointees to the nine-member Kansas Board of Regents. They replace the three Regents whose terms are expiring. The governor chose two attorneys, Joseph Bain of Goodland and Zoe (ZOH-ee)  Forrester Newton of Sedan. The governor also appointed former Democratic state Representative Bill Feuerborn (FIRE-born) from Garnett, in Anderson County.

“Part of what I try to do on selection of the Board of Regents is get geographic distribution, but also get experience distribution. And these are individuals with experience in a broad base of areas,” says Brownback

The Kansas Board of Regents oversees the state’s universities and community colleges and approves university tuition increases. The three new appointees will need to be confirmed by the Kansas Senate.
