Kansas tax revenues are plummeting and that may be bad news for the future of the state highway system. Tax revenue has come in more than $57 million below estimates this year and that’s lead the Brownback Administration to transfer money from various departments to the general revenue fund in order to balance the budget. The Kansas Department of Transportation has taken the biggest hit. From KCUR in Kansas City, reporter Sam Zeff has been looking into what that means for road work and construction companies in Kansas.

KCUR-FM, 89.3FM, is the flagship NPR station of the Kansas City metro area. It is part of Kansas City Public Media and part of the NPR digital network. Licensed to the University of Missouri-Kansas City and located on the UMCK campus.
