Kansas Senators Say NO to President's GITMO Plan

The U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas is where the military houses U.S. soldiers convicted of crimes. This facility, or a similar one, could be used to house detainees from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The Obama administration is submitting a plan to Congress to close the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and transfer suspected terrorists to the United States. Kansas Senator Jerry Moran calls the move reckless.

Fort Leavenworth is just one of multiple sites under consideration as a place to house GITMO detainees. Fellow Kansas Republican Senator Pat Roberts is also against the idea and says the president's rationale for closing GITMO doesn't make sense.

The four U.S. Representatives from Kansas, all Republicans, are also opposed to the president's plan.
