Kansas Policy Institute Defends State's Income Tax Breaks

Dave Trabert, president of the Kansas Policy Institute.
Dave Trabert, president of the Kansas Policy Institute.

There has been a lot of discussion and controversy in Kansas during the past few years about the state's economy. Many Democrats and other critics maintain that Governor Sam Brownback's deep income tax cuts have done severe damage to the state's finances. But Dave Trabert of the Kansas Policy Institute says although the state's economy is struggling, things are not all bad. Trabert says the state’s economic situation is complicated and there is some good news that's often overlooked.

Trabert challenges the suggestion that Brownback's tax policies need to change and says it takes time for long range policies to pay off.
