Kansas Legislative Leaders Push Back Against Brownback Budget

Kansas House Majority Leader Don Hineman, a moderate Republican from Dighton, says Kansas voters sent a message last year that legislators should fix the state budget mess. (photo credit: Kansas News Service file photo)

The Kansas legislative session is only in its second week, but there are already signs of the change that many voters called for in recent elections. New leaders and an aggressive group of newcomers are pushing back against Governor Sam Brownback’s budget, because, they say, it doesn’t fix the state’s deepening financial problems. From the Kansas News Service, Jim McLean has the story.
