Kansas International Film Festival & Flint Hills Discovery Center

We'll take a sneak peak at two films with a Kansas Public Radio connection: Steve Lickteig was the local host of Morning Edition in the 1990s.  His film, Open Secret, tells the story of his adoption and the secret his family upheld for 18 years.  Open Secret makes its Kansas debut October 9th at the Kansas International Film Festival.  We'll also talk to Sue Vicory, producer of the documentary, Kansas City Jazz and Blues: Past, Present, and Future, which is showing October 11th at the Festival.  Among the many jazz artists featured in her film is KPR's own David Basse.  We'll also revisit the Flint Hills Discovery Center in Manhattan, coming up on its six-month anniversary.

Kaye starts her weekends the same way you do: with Weekend Edition Saturday, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, This American Life, and To the Best of Our Knowledge. She started at Kansas Public Radio in 2001; in 2006, she became the producer of our weekly public affairs program, KPR Presents. In her spare time, she loves to read, travel, and attend theater.
