Kansas Heat Wave to Continue Through the Weekend

Kansas will be baking in a heat wave for the coming days. Temperatures are projected to reach over 100 degrees in many parts of Kansas, with the hottest temperatures in the central and western part of the state. Jared Leighton (LAY-ton) is with the National Weather Service. He says the first chance for a break from the heat will probably be this weekend.

Leighton says average high temperatures for this time of year are in the mid to upper 80s, so the forecast highs are more than 10 degrees above normal.

Leighton says the high temperatures are into the range where people can face health dangers. He recommends drinking plenty of water when outside and planning outdoor work for cooler parts of the day.
