Lawmakers in Washington have approved a bill that would stop the transfer of detainees from the U.S. naval prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba until January. Two recently released prisoners reportedly returned to the battlefield after leaving the Cuban prison. Republican Kansas Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins says the incidents are further proof that releasing detainees from the Guantanamo facility is dangerous.

Jenkins says she will continue to work to stop what she calls the “misguided practice” of moving enemy combatants from the military prison in Cuba. The military prison at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, is one of the locations the federal government has considered as a possible site for re-locating the detainees.
