Huelskamp Faces Tough Fight in Kansas First District

Heading into the August 2nd Kansas primary election, Republican Congressman Tim Huelskamp is in a desperate fight against a political newcomer to keep his seat in the state's 1st Congressional District.  Known as the “Big First,” the district covers more than half of the state and is one of the largest in the nation. The district is primarily rural and agriculture is a top concern. But as Harvest Public Media’s Peggy Lowe reports, Huelskamp already lost one important battle: the backing of the state’s most powerful agricultural interest groups.

Peggy Lowe is a reporter with Harvest Public Media, based at KCUR in Kansas City, which is a partner with KPR in a statewide collaboration covering elections in Kansas. #KS2016
