Health Officials Say Flu is "Widespread" in KS

Health officials are urging Kansans to get the flu shot. (Flickr photo by Lance McCord)Kansas health officials say they've identified a large number of likely influenza cases throughout the state. Charlie Hunt is the state epidemiologist. He says it's a bit early in the year to see such a high number of flu cases.

Hunt says the flu is also widespread in other states. He says the number of cases in Kansas is likely to stay elevated for several weeks. Hunt advises Kansans hoping to avoid the flu bug to frequently wash hands, stay home from work or school if they're feeling sick....and he says that it's still not too late to get a flu shot.
