Wichita Business Manager Hunting "Sasquatch" Burglar

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - A Wichita, Kansas, business repeatedly targeted by a burglar it now calls "Sleepy Sasquatch" is asking for the public's help in identifying the intruder. The Wichita Eagle reports Tradepost Entertainment has been burglarized four times since Feb. 12. Three of those times, the culprit left the music, movie and games store without taking anything. The store's manager says they've dubbed him "Sleepy Sasquatch" because he's seen on surveillance cameras wearing red pajama bottoms and is tall.

Pachyderms Settle into Sedgwick County Zoo

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Six elephants brought to a Kansas zoo from southern Africa earlier this year are settling in ahead of their exhibits grand opening scheduled for Memorial Day weekend. The elephants arrived in at the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita on March 11 from the southern African country of Swaziland, which is in the throes of a drought that has made food scarce. They were part of a shipment of 17 elephants brought to the U.S. in a partnership involving zoos in Wichita, Dallas and Omaha, Nebraska.

Future Topeka Museum Will Honor Famous Daredevil

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - The man who is creating a museum honoring daredevil Evel Knievel in Topeka says he expects it be a big draw. Mike Patterson owns a Topeka Harley-Davidson dealership, which is being expanded to include a 16,000-square-foot expansion to house the museum. The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that Patterson says several exhibits will incorporate science, technology, engineering and math education.

Columbia Police Search for UMKC Campus Shooter

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - University of Missouri police are seeking a suspect after two shots were fired on the campus in Columbia, Missouri.Major Brian Weimer said officers were trying to determine the nature of an "incident" on campus Friday night, but he gave no further details. A notice posted on the university's website says no injuries were reported and "there is no indication of a current threat to campus."Police are seeking a suspect described as a black male with dreadlocks, standing 5-foot-7 and weighing 160 pounds. Police say he was wearing a white shirt and was last seen driving a white, four-door vehicle.
