Happy 150th, KSU and ESU!

These are the first buildings on what is now the Emporia State and Kansas State University campuses. The ' Stone Building' (left) housed what was then known as the Normal School and was dedicated on Jan. 2, 1867, in Emporia. This Bluemont College (which would later become KSU) building photo was taken in 1867.

Kansas State University and Emporia State University are celebrating their sesquicentennials this year. This week on KPR Presents, Kaye McIntyre travels to Manhattan and Emporia to find out what the Wildcats and Hornets are doing to mark their 150th anniversaries.

Kaye starts her weekends the same way you do: with Weekend Edition Saturday, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, This American Life, and To the Best of Our Knowledge. She started at Kansas Public Radio in 2001; in 2006, she became the producer of our weekly public affairs program, KPR Presents. In her spare time, she loves to read, travel, and attend theater.
