Groups Working on Storm Recovery Urge Cash Donations

Groups working to aid in the tornado recovery in Kansas and Missouri are urging those wishing to help to donate money. Pat Hanrahan (HAN-ruh-han) is with the United Way of the Plains, based in Wichita. He says clothes or other donated goods are hard to store and transport.

Anyone in Kansas can call 2-1-1 to reach the United Way and get more information on donating. The United Way is also organizing volunteers to help in Joplin and Reading. There's information on donating to the Red Cross available at thinkred.org (think red dot org).

Stephen Koranda is KPR's Statehouse reporter.
