Group Criticizes Kobach Over His Calendar, Immigration Work

Secretary of State Kris KobachA voters’ rights coalition is criticizing Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, saying he doesn’t spend enough time on his official duties. The organization KanVote filed an open records request to obtain copies of Kobach’s calendar. Louis Goseland (GOES-land) says his group believes Kobach spends too much time away from state business.

Kobach says he is a full-time secretary of state, and that his calendar only shows appointments, not how much time he spends working in his official capacity.

Kobach says he does help states and local governments write legislation aimed at curbing illegal immigration – but only during his free time.
