Governor Picks New Computer Chief

A consultant with a background in business technology is the governor’s new computer chief. Sam Brownback has picked Jim Mann as the state’s chief information technology officer. Mann believes there are chances for the state to cut costs by negotiating new contracts with software and hardware suppliers.

Mann has been running a consulting business in Florida. He also previously helped manage technology for McDonald's and Starbucks Coffee.

Stephen Koranda is KPR's Statehouse reporter.
