Gov Wants to Merge KS Turnpike into KDOT

One of the more surprising items Governor Sam Brownback included in his State of the State speech Tuesday night was the idea of merging the Kansas Turnpike Authority into the state transportation department.

The governor didn't offer any details on how much money this move might save the state. The turnpike is already a self-funded system of highways paid for by the motorists who use it.
