Federal Government to Help Pay Costs From April Storms

A building at Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita damaged during storms in April. (Source: AP)The federal government will help communities in Kansas pay the costs from a series of storms in April. The Obama administration approved a disaster declaration this week for 14 counties. Sharon Watson is with the Kansas Adjutant General’s Department. She says the state will assist local governments as they tally costs associated with the storms.

The federal government will cover 75 percent of the costs, with the state and local governments picking up the rest of the tab. Watson says  it will likely be several weeks before the state submits a reimbursement request.
