The Kansas City Royals haven't won the World Series since 1985. Long-suffering Royals fans had almost gotten used to always missing the playoffs and never really being in contention for the league title. But last year, something amazing happened: the Royals and their free-wheeling brand of baseball suddenly topped the standings, and all of Kansas City seemingly had something to cheer for. One part of that improbable success story is being told in an ESPN documentary film short scheduled to air next month. KPR film critic Eric Melin (muh-LEEN) has more.
Eric Melin is a longtime media and film critic for KPR. The world premiere of "#BringBackSungWoo" will take place tonight (MON) at the Regnier (RAIN-yer) Extreme Screen Theatre at Union Station in Kansas City. The movie will be followed by a question--and-answer session with director Josh Swade...and Sung-Woo Lee himself will be in attendance. The film will air next month on ESPN as part of the acclaimed "30 for 30" documentary series. For more information, visit the Kansas City Film Fest website.
