Encouraging women to step forward and take risks, former Senator Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) kicked off the inaugural "Women in Leadership" lecture at the University of Kansas. Dole was the first woman to hold Cabinet positions for two different presidents -- as Secretary of Transportation under Ronald Reagan and Secretary of Labor under George H.W. Bush -- and admits that she was on the cutting edge of women in leadership.  In her remarks to an overflow crowd at the Dole Institute of Politics yesterday (SUN), Dole talked about her latest passion: helping the "hidden heroes," the 5.5 million spouses, loved ones, and caregivers of our nation's wounded warriors. Dole says she became inspired to reach out to military families and caregivers after her husband, Bob Dole, spend eleven months at Walter Reed Army Hospital in 2012.
