Doubts Arise about Facts in Capote's "In Cold Blood"

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Documents are casting doubt on the accuracy of events that were portrayed in Truman Capote's famous book recounting the 1959 murders of the Clutter family in southwest Kansas. A Kansas Bureau of Investigation report suggests the agency waited five days after getting a tip that led to the arrest of Perry Smith and Richard Hickock. Capote long contended his 1964 book "In Cold Blood" was "immaculately factual."
