Dangerous Heat, Potentially-Dangerous Storms for KS

The sun will heat up Kansas today, pushing the heat index near 110 degrees in some locations. (Photo courtesy of NOAA.)

Dangerously hot weather is expected across Kansas today (THUR).  Kyle Poage, with the National Weather Service in Topeka, says a heat advisory will be in effect for most of eastern Kansas from 1 to 8pm today (THUR).

Poage says severe thunderstorms are also possible this (THUR) afternoon and evening.  The main threat from these storms will be large hail but tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
