Cost of Some SRS Offices Shifted to Local Communities

The decision to close a number of Kansas SRS offices has been controversial. So far, four communities have found a way to keep their local offices open. But, as Guest Commentator Gwyn (Gwen) Mellinger (MELL-ing-ur) points out, the effort to save local offices comes with a cost... to local taxpayers.

Guest Commentator Gwyn (Gwen) Mellinger (MELL-ing-ur) is Chair of the Mass Media Department at Baker University in Baldwin City. She also writes a column for the Topeka Capital Journal and for Insight Kansas.
