Colombian President Juan Santos visits the University of Kansas Tuesday, where he'll receive an honorary degree from his alma mater. The South American leader will be awarded the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters. KU spokesman Andy Hyland says the university wanted to honor Santos for his contributions to achieving peace in his country and the world.
The last time the Colombian president visited KU was in 2012, when the school presented him with a Distinguished Alumni Award. Santos graduated KU in 1973 with degrees in economics and business. The ceremony to honor him begins at 5:15pm Tuesday at the Lied Center.
