(Photo by Stephen Koranda)Secretary of State Kris Kobach flipped a coin to decide the winner of a tied primary race for the Kansas House. The Democratic candidates for House District 65, in the Junction City area, each had 206 votes. The coin toss came up tails, making Melody Saxton the winner. She says this is a chance to show people the importance of voting.

Saxton and Tom Brungardt were tied in the Democratic primary. The two candidates agreed to a coin toss to decide the race. The decision came as part of the State Board of Canvassers meeting to finalize the primary election results.
