Casino Gambling Returns to Legislative Agenda in 2011

Casino gambling is back on the agenda for Kansas legislators in the new year. The continued troubles in attracting a casino to southeast Kansas has Democratic Representative Bob Grant of Cherokee backing a bill to lower the buy-in requirements.

The expanded gaming bill that passed a few years ago called for four state-owned casinos. While projects are advancing elsewhere in Kansas, the southeast zone has only attracted one bidder in three years...and that bidder backed out the same day it was awarded a contract.
