Candidates in Final Hours of Campaign Before Primary Elections

(Image credit: Johnson County Public Library)

It’s down to the final hours of campaigning before the Kansas primary elections. That’s prompting last minute mailers and robocalls. Here’s one heard in the Salina area supporting Senate candidate Tom Arpke.

Governor Sam Brownback’s administration has backed some conservative challengers hoping to oust more moderate Republicans in the Senate. Arpke is challenging incumbent Republican Senator Pete Brungardt. The challengers have been attacking moderate Republicans by suggesting that they prevented Kansas voters from "opting out" of the Affordable Care Act. In reality, neither the Kansas Legislature -- nor Kansas voters -- would be able to "opt out" of the nation's health law regardless of how moderate senators voted. The polls are open tomorrow (TUE) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
