Books! The Chaperone, Our Boys, and Dr. Wes

This week's program features Laura Moriarty, author of the just-released novel, The Chaperone, a fictional account of silent film star Louise Brooks' trip from Wichita to New York City when she was just 15 years old. Moriarty is in the midst of a book tour for The Chaperone, with upcoming readings in Lawrence and Kansas City. We'll also hear from sportswriter Joe Drape, author of Our Boys: A Perfect Season on the Plains with the Smith Center Redmen. Our Boys is the 2012 "Kansas Reads" book selected by the Center for the Book at the State Library of Kansas. Finally, we'll hear from Dr. Wes Crenshaw, author of the weekly "Double Take" column in the Lawrence Journal-World and Dear Dr. Wes: Real Life Advice for Teens and Dear Dr. Wes: Real Life Advice for Parents of Teens.

Kaye starts her weekends the same way you do: with Weekend Edition Saturday, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, This American Life, and To the Best of Our Knowledge. She started at Kansas Public Radio in 2001; in 2006, she became the producer of our weekly public affairs program, KPR Presents. In her spare time, she loves to read, travel, and attend theater.
