Baker University Wetlands Discovery Center Holds Open House

The new Baker University Wetlands Discovery Center will host an open house this weekend.  The $1.5 million facility was dedicated Wednesday.  KPR News Intern Austin Fitts was there and files this report.


This weekend's open house runs from 9am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday, from 1pm to 4pm.

Baker Wetlands Discovery Center Opens

The new Baker University Wetlands Discovery Center is now open.  The $1.5 million facility, south of Lawrence, was officially dedicated yesterday (WED).  The building includes a research lab, classroom space and offers visitors a panoramic view of the wetlands.  Roger Boyd is the education coordinator for the center.  


The wetlands discovery center sits on hundreds of acres of restored wetlands and includes nine miles of trails for walkers, hikers and cyclists.  An open house will be held this weekend - Saturday, from 9am to 4pm and Sunday, from 1pm to 4pm.
