Arts Commission Running Low on Cash

A member of the Kansas Arts Commission says it's down to its last $5,000, but still hopes to plan arts festivals and review past grants to local arts agencies. That’s what a commission member told the Legislature's Joint Committee on Arts and Cultural Resources. Commission Vice Chairwoman Kathy Herzog says that once they're able to secure funding, they will work to assist local communities.

Legislators are reviewing efforts by Governor Sam Brownback's administration to promote the arts after he vetoed state funding for the commission in favor of private donation efforts.
