​Willow Domestic Violence Center Throws an Unusual Fundraiser

An area resource center for people who have experienced domestic violence or human trafficking is staging a fundraiser this weekend. It's a lip-sync competition that will end with one of the participating teams taking home a $5,000 prize. Will Averill is with the Willow Domestic Violence Center and is one of the organizers of the Lawrence Mic Drop:   


The Lawrence Mic Drop takes place tomorrow (SAT) at 7 p.m. at Liberty Hall in Lawrence. Tickets are available at Liberty Hall, and you can find more information about the event here

Lip Sync Competition to Raise Funds for Area Domestic Violence Center 

A Lawrence non-profit organization that aids victims of domestic violence and human trafficking is holding an out-of-the-ordinary fundraiser this weekend. Megan Stuke of the Willow Domestic Violence Center says the group provides a wide array of services:


Inspired by late-night comedian Jimmy Fallon and his on-air lip sync battles, the center is staging a community-wide lip-sync competition. Teams have been training and rehearsing for weeks, and will be competing tomorrow (SAT) night for a $5,000 prize. The event will take place at Liberty Hall in Lawrence.
