Dan Skinner’s new show focuses on chats with authors, leaders of local arts organizations

Dan Skinner isn’t new to the airwaves. The director of Kansas Public Radio since November 2015 has been at the game a while. A Kansas native, Skinner has been the manager of other public radio stations in Indiana, Ohio and Texas. Get used to hearing Dan Skinner’s name: he now also has his own radio show, Conversations, which will begin airing on KPR2 on Sundays in July.

Throughout the months of February and March, the rotating display of local art in KPR’s conference room will feature pieces from Cottonwood, Inc., consumers. Cottonwood is a non-profit organization that provides services and programs for individuals with developmental disabilities in the Lawrence community. Cottonwood encourages their consumers to make art and attend classes to help them express themselves.

Earlier this month, the University of Kansas announced more than $1 million in targeted spending reductions. That’s in response to the state of Kansas trimming KU’s total state funding by more than $10 million this fiscal year to help balance the state budget.
