Music Programming on KPR - jazz CD Giveaway

This week's CD:

Kansas City's own Angela Hagenbach's first nationwide release, The Way They Make Me Feel, features the music of Henry Mancini, Johnny Mandel and Michel Legrand. With gorgeous string arrangements and the excellent piano work of Tamir Hendelman, her lush voice explores the likes of "Charade," "Summer Me, Winter Me" and ""Quietly There."

Vibist Steve Hobbs kicks off his new CD, Straight Up, with a burning version pf "Cherokee." Along with jazz standards like "Stars Fell on Alabama" there is an eclectic set of tunes ranging from "Woody the Woodpecker" to "Shenendoah." Hobbs is backed by pianist Bill O'Connell, bassist Peter Washington and drummer John Riley.
