Kansas Health Series Monday 6:40 AM - & 8:40 AM “Kansas Health: A Prescription for Change” is an award winning weekly series about the health and well-being of Kansans. It's an expansion of the series, "Kansas Kids: A Prescription for Change", which has been heard on Kansas Public Radio, as well as other public and commercial radio stations, since June of 2000. | Item Listing | Why Are Some Kids More Resilient Than Others? Date: August 30, 2010 Resiliency is a word child psychologists use to describe the ability of children to bounce back from traumatic events in their lives. Some children are far more resilient than others, even when their circumstances seem nearly identical. As part of our series, “Kansas Health: A Prescription for Change”, Health Reporter Bryan Thompson sat down with University of Kansas Child Psychologist Yo Jackson to talk about her research into why some kids seem to bounce back from childhood abuse and neglect...and others don’t.

Yo Jackson is a clinical child psychologist at the University of Kansas. She was recently awarded a 1.7-million dollar grant from the National Institutes of Health to explore resiliency in children.
