Pianist Harold Mabern, who came up on the music scene in his hometown of Memphis and then made his mark in Chicago starting in the mid 1950's, leads a band with saxophonist Eric Alexander, bassist Nat Reeves, and drummer Jimmy Cobb, plus trumpeter Freddie Hendrix on three tracks, on To Love to be Loved, with tunes by the likes of Lee Morgan, Miles Davis, Gene Ammons, and McCoy Tyner,
