The Whirling Dervish Performance of Rumi is a celebration of existence, performed by members of a branch of the Sufi order, which was founded in the 13th century in the Turkish city of Konya. Sufism emphasizes universal love, peace, acceptance of various traditions and cultures.  The act of whirling of the dervishes is an act of love and a display of universal acceptance. Chanting of poetry, rhythmic rotation, and incessant music create a synthesis which, induces a feeling of soaring, of ecstasy, of mystical flight.

  • A live performance by the Whirling Dervishes of Rumi,
  • Traditional Sufi/ Turkish music,
  • A presentation about Sufism by world renowned scholar Ori Soltes from Georgetown University,
  • Calligraphy by the famous artist Aydin Cayir
