Velas Women's Day Ride

Description: We’re organizing an event that is aimed at getting more women on bikes and fostering a strong community of female riders, whatever their ability level might be. The group is called Velas. Velas--A source of light and inspiration for women. Our goal is to illuminate the joy of cycling and nurture participation through friendship, mutual support and simply being together--on and off the bike. We are holding our first annual Women's Day Ride on August 7th starting at Broken Arrow Park at 7:30 a.m. It’s called a Women’s Day Ride, because we’re riding to support charities that primarily impact women. Men are welcome to come out and support women on bikes! We have three routes planned for all levels of cycling; a 16, 30 and 50-mile route. Each route will be fully supported with support and gear (SAGs) and sweepers; and ride ambassadors will be helping. The ride ambassadors will ride with anyone who is riding alone or available to help with light mechanical issues. Upon return to Broken Arrow free chair massages will be available, a light lunch will be served, and music—we’re having a party to celebrate our achievements! All registered participants can enter a drawing for some awesome swag. While out on the ride a professional photographer will be taking pictures and will put those online and available for download free of charge. Between now and the day of the ride Sunflower Outdoor and Bike Shop is offering free safety checks and quick lube for all registered participants. Online registration is at Same day registration available with a late fee.
