The Kansas City Wind Symphony ends their 18th season, "Nights of Dreams, Imagination and Magic" with a free concert at Village Presbyterian Church located at 67th and Mission Road in Prairie Village, Kansas.
The concert will take place on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at 7:00 P.M. Entitled ‘The Tops in Pops’, the program features some very special musical guests, Soprano Gwen Coleman Detwiler who will perform All the Pretty Horses from Five Folk Songs for Soprano and Band, Over the Rainbow, Summertime and Nice Work If You Can Get It.
Also performing with the KCWS will be the Liberty High School Steel Drum Band, conducted by Edward Owen. The band will perform ‘Brazil’ and ‘Everybody Loves Saturday Night’.
The KCWS is also going to premiere a piece entitled ‘The Elephant and the Fly’, composed by our own Buck Buchanan, who will perform on Tuba with Crystal Kimmel on piccolo.
The Kansas City Wind Symphony is a member of the Village Arts Alliance of Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, Kansas, which includes the Kansas City Wind Symphony, Te Deum Chamber Choir and the Kansas City Baroque Consortium. The Kansas City Wind Symphony is conducted by Dr. Phil Posey and Ms. Pat Setser.
