The pioneering string quartet ETHEL and Grammy Award-winning Native American flutist Robert Mirabal present Music of the Sun, a program inspired by the Native American sun mythology. Uniting the string quartet and Native American flutes (Tdoop - Pootse) and drums (Mooloo) with the spirited voices of local choir members, ETHEL and Mirabal create a cross-cultural contemporary music event that is not to be missed.
Included in the program are Mirabal’s compositions; arrangements of ancient Native American music for strings, flutes, percussion and voices; selections from ETHEL’s original repertoire; and the works of contemporary composers such as Marcelo Zarvos, John Luther Adams and others.
